Speak on it Thursdays...Textually Active

What were you doing before text?!?!
When was the last time you actually called someone in your phone?!?
Are we going to just eventually get rid of our anytime minutes and just text all day?!?!
Do you have anyone that YOU ONLY TEXT and NOTHING MORE?!?!?
Are we SEXTING even...hmmm...who knows...
Is it getting out of control?!?!
Are we too dependent and can no longer hold a conversation for longer than a few minutes with the next individual?!?!?
What is the world coming to...WHEN WE ARE ALL TEXTUALLY ACTIVE...SPEAK ON IT...

  3. Texting is amazing! You can have a conversation with several people at the same time without the hassles of three-way calling (even through that use to be my ish back in the day). That's what we had before texting. Also, AIM but now people just forward their IMs to their phone as texts. I guess texting is taking over the world one cell phone at a time.

Shout out to Apple for iPhones with landscape texting! That increased the texting takeover threefold!

  5. The world of texting has actually taken over in a very fast period of time. I believe the unlimited text option did not become popular till about 2005 and really started growing 2006-07. I now lack the ability to have a casual conversation without people getting boring to me. Text messages are short and concise. You can get your messages across without saying too much. You can respond when you wish and not have to listen to someone breathe in your ear over the phone.

I remember those days in my high school career when I stayed up hours upon hours talking to women. I remember I use to actually remember my friends numbers that I had in my phone. Now, I just store them in my blackberry and only pull them out when they hold some convenience to me. I am able to send a good ten or fifteen text messages at a time so I send out multiple "Hey's" to my female associates.

I love this world of texting that we have grown into. Who needs to get all personal these days?!?! So what If I never hear her voice over the phone but, I still managed to get the Late night text which says "baby, you coming over tonight." I can just cut to the chase and be as direct as I would like to be. Instead of those face to face interactions where I just can not say to much because of our environment or where we may be at the time. Well, this was surely interesting.

Now, I text my friend to see if she is free to have lunch...LLS!

  6. Well I call people all the time, I think whats happening is people don't want to talk because like previously stated, they just want to get to the point. I hate when I call someone and they txt me right back saying whats up. PPL pick up the damn phone, I have unlimited text and I chose to call for a reason, it makes no sense to me. If I have a story to tell, I call fuck that, and surprisingly I still use more than 1,000 minutes but also send more than 2,000 texts a month.

  7. I send over 4,000 txt messages a month. But the same ppl I txt are the same ones I speak to over the phone anyway. Although txting is faster and can be convinient--like when you're in class or a public, noisy place, I still prefer to have a regular conversation and would choose to talk to someone in-person over anything. But of course you have to be more than a name in my phonebook because if I don't talk to you on the phone, chances are that I won't waste my time sending you a casual txt either lol...and sorry So Comolex Like, but some of us still like to get personal...
