Spotlight on You: Wisin & Yandel

Who is this you may ask?!?!?

Well, Wisin & Yandel are a Puerto Rican reggaeton duo, consisting of Llandel Veguilla Malavé Salazar (Yandel) and Juan Luis Morera Luna (Wisin). They started their career in the mid 90's (95) and have been together since, winning several awards during that time.

A few of their biggest hits are "Rakata", "Llamé Pa' Verte (Bailando Sexy)", "Pam Pam", and "Gracias a Tí" just to name a few. And if you thought that was all these two young men have also collaborated with R & B sensation such as R. Kelly on "Burn It Up", Reality show superstar Paris Hilton on the reggaeton remix to her debut single "Stars Are Blind", Ja Rule from "The Inc" on "Rakata (Remix)", the man with the strings Lenny Kravitz on "Breathe" (a promotional song for Absolut Vodka), Mexican Pop group RBD on "Lento (Remix)", compatriots La Secta AllStar on "Llora Mi Corazón", Fat Joe on "Jangueo", Nelly Furtado on "Sexy Movimiento (Remix)", 50 Cent on "Mujeres In The Club" (the song posted in the blog) and "Así Soy" along with G-Unit, Akon on "All Up 2 You" along with popular male singers Aventura and "Ella Me Llama (Remix)", Enrique Iglésias on "Lloro Por Ti (Remix)" and "Gracias a Tí (Remix)" and most recently the King of the Autotune T-Pain on "Imagínate".

I do imagine that 50 cent does not know what really is going on this video himself but he is sure enough now a face in the Wisin & Yandel's legion of fans! If I am correct as well Mujeres stands for women and this song is about "women in the club." The cinematography is precise and yet has this rough look behind it and I guess the landscape just goes along with the whole concept of what I believe is "getting back what was taken from us?!?!" That is my thought and my vision but I may be incorrect being that I do not understand what they are saying, I just like the feel of the song!

NOW THE BIG PICTURE...

This video is very intriguing and very interesting to see the meshing of two Hip Hop Worlds and realizing that while I do not understand this song I thoroughly enjoy it! So to my readers do not think that the world of music stops with what you know or what you are use to...BRANCH OUT! Listen to other genre's, other cultures, different forms of music, from classical all the way back to ambience music and just trying out the different feels that music brings and can provide to different viewers.

Last but not least, NETWORK as well you never know as an artist who you can collaborate with and now you guys can help each other as upcoming artist! Do not think that you will make it in this cut throat industry by yourself! If you guys have blogs share each other music and have your fans check them out and their fans will have a taste of who you are whether they like you or not they now know you exist! If you are in the college environment find the creative heads in the fine arts building who makes fliers and do photography and/or who creates videos. Make your team and take yourself to the top of the charts! Keep your ears to the streets for different events happening in your town regarding music, get your name out at poetry clubs, small shows or even underneath a radio station learn the ropes of working with artist and how to really get your name out there! Have a copy of your music handy with you! Not an entire album just 1 or 2 songs maybe a good minute sample because record labels do not play entire songs I am sure of it! And look at it this way with all this new found networking the more peeps you get on your side the more likely your fame and stardom will approach you and you no longer have to look for it! And since you read this much I will treat you with another hit from Wisin & Yandel entitled "Abusadora." Enjoy!
